Dr. Jeffrey Berman

Dr. Berman is a bioengineer with experience developing and applying advanced brain imaging techniques to pediatric and adult populations.   Dr. Berman received his PhD from the Joint UCSF/ UC Berkeley Bioengineering Graduate Program.  He has been involved in the technical development, scientific application, and clinical translation of diffusion MR techniques utilizing diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and high angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI).  His current research focus is to combine magnetoencephalography (MEG) and MRI to study the structure and function of children with neuropsychiatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. By examining the coupling between brain structure and function, Dr. Berman explores how abnormal development of the structure-function relationship contributes to the clinical symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
